The “Perfect Storm” Experience

Clear & calm Earth weather during the evening of September 29, 2025 allowed for pristine viewing conditions of a perfect geomagnetic storm of auroras to reflect on this mirror-like lake near Willow, Alaska. The reflection in the calm water looked surreal as the aurora rays appeared to radiate both upward and downward.

The solar wind was really huffing, puffing and blowing Earth's magnetic house around which generated the early onset of aurora activity. This sensational light show began just before 9 pm in the twilight dusk of “blue hour” so many people were still awake to see it... how perfectly convenient!
